About AHAM
AHAM is an open-source identity and access management system you can run on your own infrastructure. It is written in Rust and Vue and provides authentication, authorization, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect and user administration in a single console.
Why AHAM exists
Almost every application needs accounts: sign-up, sign-in, password resets, sessions, roles. Many developers pick an external service for this and accept keeping their users somewhere else, paying per account, or depending on someone else's terms. Others build everything from scratch and end up repeating the same security mistakes.
AHAM is a third option: a complete identity server that is simple to install and that you control. Your users' data stays with you, and your apps connect through open standards, with no vendor lock-in.
What you can do with AHAM
The stack is split into three components you can install separately: ID (the identity server), User (the portal where people manage their profile and connected apps) and Users (the admin app for accounts, projects, clients, roles and access policies). Each project has its own OpenID Connect issuer, its own users and its own branding.
With the visual designer you can customize sign-in forms and emails, and the documentation walks you from the first Docker start to connecting an application.
Apps that use AHAM
We run AHAM in our own projects, which keeps us honest about making it practical and stable:
- Vokably – daily word puzzles and riddles.
- UP FEED – a community feed where the best links are chosen by votes.
- URL – short links with expiry and click stats.
Open source and license
AHAM can be used, modified and self-hosted under the AGPL-3.0-or-later license. The source code is public on GitLab, and a separate commercial license is available on request. See the license page for details.
Who we are
AHAM is an independent project developed in Romania. You can follow its progress in the developer journal, where we write about technical choices, tutorials and news.
